Shiva Temple
The project of the Temple of Shiva, by the architect José Deodoro Troufa Real is located on a ground granted by the Town of Loures, next to the Urbanization of the Towers of Bela Vista, in Stº António dos Cavaleiros.
The intervention area foresees 4 different Sectors in which the different Blocks that formalize the project are developed. Sector I for Socio-Cultural Activities, Sector II for Cult activities, with the Temple and part of the Covered Parking, Sector III destined for the other part of the Covered Parking and Mirror of Water (Kund) , and Sector IV for Outdoor Parking and a Memorial Garden.
This project is based on references and concepts researched in an investigation on the evolution of the temples dedicated to the god Shiva, but the essential thing for the project of the Temple was retained: the entrance is made by a staircase that leads to the belly of a woman seated and the shrine encloses the symbol of Shiva – the Linga and is surmounted by a tower called Shikara.
This piece of architecture will become a reference in the context of the Hindu Temples in Europe, and will be a means of promoting and carrying out various projects of this community.
